General

There are 133 steps down to the beach with rest stops every 10 or so steps. A handrail runs the full length of the steps on one side but is slightly uneven in places. Take your time, stop for a selfie and enjoy the view as you come down!
Yes, the steps are the only way on or off the beach. On a Spring low tide, it is possible to walk along the bay to the harbour. Always check tide times before setting off. A boat arrival might sound romantic, but the North coast swell may have something to say about it.
We have a zip wire that runs down the cliffs, and this can be used for some keg deliveries. Everything else is carried up and down the steps by our dedicated team. We never skip leg day.
Yes. The beach has been in private ownership since it was sold off by the crown. As a result of its sale with the mining rights, it is privately owned all the way down to the mean low tide mark meaning we gain and lose a few extra acres every day!
Lusty Glaze derives from the Cornish language interpretation of ‘a place to view blue boats’. This refers to the beach’s mining heritage, when little blue boats were used to ferry the iron ore deposits that were mined from the surrounding cliffs, across the bay to the harbour.
Yes. We remain open all year round. Come and experience Lusty through the seasons. Remember to check the calendar for any private event days.
Very! We love doggos here at the beach and they are welcome across the site all year. All we ask is that you keep them on a lead from the top of the steps down to the wet sand, and that you take any poo away with you.
We’re open every day from 9:30am. Please check our calendar for dates that we may be closed to the public for private events.
We serve a seasonal menu of tasty beach food. Think fresh stone baked pizzas and salads in the summer and sharing boards, or stacked nachos and lite bites in the Winter. You can find a sample menu on our website. You can also book in to eat in the restaurant with the Pickled Chef.
There is a large public pay and display car park right next to the beach on Lusty Glaze Road. This is not owned or operated by Lusty Glaze Beach and parking charges apply all year.
Yes. Soft scoop ice cream and lollies are available from the beach shop during the season.
Unfortunately, BBQs are strictly prohibited. Picnics are fine, but BBQs can be dangerous when not used and disposed of properly.
Don’t be cheeky. The whole beach is covered by our premises license (think of it as the best pub garden you’ve ever been to) and as such we have a duty of care to watch how much you drink. You wouldn’t smuggle a stubby into your local boozer, so please leave your prosecco chilling in the fridge at home for later. Our plentiful bars have got you covered.
Unfortunately, surfboard and wetsuit hire are not currently available on site.
The RNLI patrol the beach from 10am – 6pm every day during the peak 6 weeks of summer only. Outside of this time, the beach is not lifeguarded.
It is possible to walk along the bay to the harbour during low Spring tides (on average every fortnight). Always check tide times before setting off as the tide can cut you off if you’re not careful.
There are Free to access public toilets on the beach but no public showers. Due to the unique, historic geography of the site, there are also no accessible facilities.
Our calendar is published here on the website, detailing what’s on and what days we may be closed. You can also follow our social media channels for daily updates.
There are no public bins on the beach. Help us preserve and protect the ocean habitat by taking all your rubbish away with you.
Many years ago, Lusty had a short period where the business was leased to a third party who developed this initiative. It is a project that has been shelved since then and these are unfortunately no longer available.

Events

Most of our ticketed events are family friendly. U18s must be accompanied by an adult and hold a valid admission ticket. We operate a strict challenge 24 policy on all bars and recommend that children always wear ear defenders.
Yes, everyone requires a valid ticket for entry (babies in arms do not require a ticket). If family tickets aren’t available, children will need their own general admission ticket, as they count as a full-price guest.

Are your events dog friendly? – Our large events are not dog friendly. Due to the large numbers of people and loud music volumes (and sometimes fireworks) we recommend leaving them at home with someone who loves them as much as you do.

Our large headline shows require an admission ticket. Our weekly shows are FREE to attend. Please check our listings for full details of the event you are interested in attending.
Unless stated otherwise, our ticketed events prohibit food and drink (except for bottles of water). Our fully stocked bars and food outlets will be open.
Unless stated otherwise, chairs are prohibited at ticketed events (more room for dancing).
There is a public pay and display car park next to the beach on Lusty Glaze Road. This is not owned or operated by Lusty Glaze Beach and parking charges apply all year. Other car parks are located nearby. To help minimise impact on the environment, please walk to the beach or use public transport where possible.
Firework displays are limited to the finale of our beach rugby tournament every August Bank Holiday weekend and possibly 1 or 2 other dates over the Summer. We do not allow fireworks at weddings or other private events.
The restaurant is closed on event days. Festival style takeaway food will be available to ticket holders.
Music finishes at 11pm. You’ll probably be home before midnight.
We all know how unpredictable the Cornish weather can be, so check the forecast and dress appropriately. There’s no harm in doing a little sun dance…

Yes, the beach in its entirety, or just certain areas are available for private bookings. Please contact us to share your amazing plans.

Weddings

Cornwall weather can be wonderfully unpredictable, but our weddings are stunning come rain or shine. We have a beautiful indoor space, plus the option to open the lounge area with an additional bar. Our expert team are absolute ninjas when it comes to discreet and efficient room turnarounds, so a little rain never dampens the magic of your special day.
Up to 30 people can sleep on site in 9 different accommodations making the walk home super easy. Stay longer than your wedding for a perfect minimoon!
Yes, we do! Check with us for limits and charges on wine, prosecco and Champagne.
Of course you can! But due to our location and close relationship with mother nature, real petals only please. Even ‘biodegradable’ confetti takes too long to disappear from our little corner of paradise.
We can help! Our partners at LifeStar Medical can transport guests down and back up our steps on special medi-chairs. They are very friendly and the service is extremely quick, efficient and dignified. Guests can be dropped down earlier if they prefer and enjoy perhaps a coffee or a tipple before your other guests arrive.
As romantic as it sounds, no. Our dramatic North Coast is breathtakingly beautiful, but the seas can be rough and the tides unpredictable, making boat arrivals impractical. You should definitely get your feet wet once you’re here though.
Absolutely! Our beach is uniquely licensed up to the water’s edge at low tide. If you hire the beach exclusively for your special day, you have the pick of where on the beach you would like to marry. Even with your toes in the ocean…
Our black book of contacts is full of the best local suppliers that are at the top of their game and love Lusty Glaze as much as we do. Florists, hair and makeup, bands, photographers… even mermaids.
Our draft beers are a selection of local brews and international favourites. Check with the team for this year’s lineup.
Babies in arms are not included in your guest numbers, however any child that needs a seat or highchair is classed as a full human and needs to be counted.
If you have a date in mind, our Weddings team can provisionally hold it for 7 days whilst you contact the registrars. When the registrars are booked, complete the booking form and send us your first payment to secure your day. Simple. Your second and third payments for the remaining venue hire will be due at 9 and 6 months before your date. Your food and drink payment is due just 6 weeks before your wedding date.
Sparklers are fine, you will need to ensure you bring plenty of wind proof lighters as well as a metal bucket to dispose them in. Unfortunately, due to the proximity of our neighbours at the top of the cliffs we cannot allow fireworks. They would be nervous wrecks by the end of the summer.

Totally! We love dogs at our weddings and after all, they’re family too right? We can even recommend a local dog nanny to look after them, so you don’t have to worry. Ring bearer anyone?

Yes, that’ the only way down to the site. We’d recommend roping in some of your wedding party to help you. The more the merrier!

They’re wonderfully helpful and will guide you through everything you need.

We’re not able to offer tastings, and that’s simply because our wedding menu is wonderfully extensive and we don’t hold stock on site. Everything is ordered in fresh for each individual wedding. This ensures your food is prepared with the highest quality ingredients, tailored to your chosen dishes.

We don’t offer traditional table service, as our wedding breakfast is designed as a delicious, abundant BBQ style banquet, with a wide variety of dishes for your guests to pick and enjoy. This style keeps things relaxed, gives everyone plenty of choice, and ensures all dietary needs are beautifully catered for.

Our license is until 11pm so book those carriages from the top of the steps for around 11:30pm.
