Welcome to The Cooking Academy at Lusty Glaze Beach – a unique place of culinary inspiration housed in a beautiful cosy restaurant with the awesome backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean right outside the front door.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, a course at our Cooking Academy will equip you with a range of techniques, recipes and principles to help you make the most of our locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Our cookery courses are perfect for any type of cook whether you’re a beginner, looking to learn new skills or a confident cook looking for more inspiration.

The Cooking Academy is led by head chef, Richard Mason, who is in his second year here at Lusty Glaze. Richard brings with him a wealth of experience as a food lover and a chef and is passionate about everything he cooks.

Having worked throughout the United Kingdom for the last 17 years Richard has now come back home to Cornwall. Making sure that we are using the very best ingredients, cooking simply and producing maximum flavour in all of our recipes.

His passion for sharing his knowledge and skills to others is what inspired the idea of setting up his own school.

 

Fish Cookery Masterclass

This course provides practical and demonstration cookery sessions where you’ll be able to watch our skilled head chef in action and then get hands-on with the cooking yourselves. We’ll provide everything you need for the day including recipes, ingredients, aprons, teas, coffees and a glass, or two, of wine throughout the day.

We’ll pause during the course to eat some of the dishes you have cooked and, depending on the course, we may also provide a few extra dishes for lunch.

Please arrive 30 minutes before your course starts to give you a chance to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, meet the head chef and your classmates.

At the end of the day, you will take home recipe cards with all the recipes you’ve learnt during the course. You will also receive a discount voucher to use at Matthew Stevens (our fresh fish and seafood suppliers) – the perfect opportunity to buy fresh ingredients so you can re-create the dishes at home.

You’ll be on your feet for most of the day so we recommend you wear comfortable shoes.

* This exclusive day only has 8 spaces available to guarantee that you gain some personal and attentive tuition from the chef.

Full day course: 10am – 4pm

Tickets: £150 per person

With so much to see and do here, you might want to spend more than a day with us. Should you need somewhere to stay, we will be glad to suggest options, including our own beautiful cottage and chalet (subject to availability).
