Youngsters from the Newquay area are invited to join the S Club, otherwise known as the Lusty Glaze Surf Club, every Sunday morning throughout the summer for fun, active and educational surfing sessions.

Budding young surfers aged 7 to 15 are welcome to join the S Club, which aims to improve surf skills and promote the safe enjoyment of the sea.

The one-and-a-half-hour sessions will take place from 10.30am each Sunday at lifeguard protected Lusty Glaze Beach under the guidance of qualified surf instructors from The Adventure Centre.

Children will learn new skills each week to develop their surfing ability and enhance their water safety knowledge.

Suitable for beginner and intermediate surfers, the six progressive surf lessons will include practical training such as learning how to duck dive, bottom turn or compete in surf contests.

Youngsters will also learn about the theory of surfing, such as how waves are formed, as well as safety tips, such as identifying beach flags and dealing with rip currents.

Tracey Griffiths from The Adventure Centre at Lusty Glaze Beach commented: “This is a great way for kids to get out and enjoy a healthy, outdoors lifestyle over the summer holiday.

“This is a six-week boot camp for budding young surfers, which aims to take them from enthusiastic water ‘babies’ through to accomplished wave-riders, while all the time having fun, making new friends and learning to appreciate the sea and the coast.”
